Grouping Resources
NOTE: We recommend that groups are numbered (e.g. 01 Vehicles, 02 Drivers, 03 Geofences, etc.) for Units, Drivers and Geofences for ease of use on the platform.
Units, Drivers and Geofences may be grouped to enable better management of your tracking and IVMS operations. Grouping allows specific Groups to be displayed simply on the map, enables reports to be run against specific Groups and helps with the set-up and management of Notifications.
Groups are not exclusive and an Object can belong to more than one group at the same time. Users may be configured to be able to see only one group of Units (for example only the Units in the project they are responsible for). Some examples where Groups may be useful include:
Drivers may be grouped for ease of administration, reporting and monitoring
Geofences may be grouped to allow rapid display of all relevant information (e.g. all police districts or warehouses in a particular location)
Geofences may be grouped as well for easier visibility
Vehicle installed Units may be grouped together for the purposes of reporting
Unit Groups are commonly used for generating Reports
To set up or edit a Group, select the appropriate tab (Geofences, Unit Groups and others), select the Group and add / amend as necessary.
