Key Concepts

It is important to understand the following terminology to effectively use and administer the SicuroTrackV2 platform.

User: A User of the SicuroTrackV2 platform. Examples of Users include fleet managers, watch-keepers, security and health and safety personnel and journey planners. Users may be afforded different levels of access dependent upon need and may be classified as Administrators or Visitors.

Unit: A Unit is an application or device that collects and sends data to the SicuroTrackV2. Examples include personnel tracking Units and In-Vehicle Management Systems (IVMS).

Driver: A Driver is an individual who can be associated with a Unit. Examples include people who use personnel tracking Units and Drivers of a vehicle being tracked by a specific Unit.

Notifications: Notifications may be triggered by changes in status reported by a Unit. Notifications may require a response. They are normally configured to display a warning on the platform and may be further configured to provide an email and / or SMS alert to predefined email addresses and phone numbers.

Geofence: A Geofence is a user-defined area which may be configured to trigger Notifications. For example, Notifications can be triggered if a Unit enters or leaves a specific Geofence (provided that a valid position report has been received whilst the Unit within the Geofence).

Object: An Object can be a Geofence, Notification, Driver or a Report template.

Resource: A Resource is a folder (like a folder or directory in Windows) for Objects. Each time you create an Object you need to define which Resource folder it should be placed into. By default, Users should place Objects into their fleet folders.

Tooltips: Tooltips are used to provide you additional information relating to Objects. They are displayed once you hover over Objects.

Track: A Track is a map display that shows a Unit's movement trail during a specified period.

Messages: A Message is information sent by a Unit. Generally, messages contain information related to location, speed, heading, GPS satellites and sensors.
