Key Concepts

It is important to understand the following terminology to effectively use and administer the SicuroTrack platform.

User: A user of the SicuroTrack platform. Users may be afforded different levels of access dependent upon need and may be classified as Administrators, Users or Visitors. Different permissions may be assigned to Users depending upon their requirements.

Device: Hardware that collects and sends data to the platform. Examples include personnel tracking devices and In Vehicle Management Systems (IVMS).

Person: An individual whose details are held on the platform and who may be associated with a Device. Examples include drivers and individuals using a personnel tracking device. Managers and other responsible individuals may also be added as a Person to enable them to receive notifications of alerts via email and / or SMS.

Event: A change in status recorded and reported by a device.

Alert: An Event which has been deemed noteworthy and which requires a response (for example activation of a panic button). Alerts are normally configured to display a warning on the platform and may be further configured to provide an email and / or SMS alert to a Person or group of people.

Point of Interest (POI): A specific location of particular significance. For example a company HQ or a hospital.

Area / Geofence: A User defined Area which may be configured to create an Alert or Event. For example an Event can be triggered if a Device enters or leaves a specific Area (provided that a valid position report has been received whilst the device is in the Area).
